Due to friends of fotocommunity I got in contact to a group of historical interested people, who spend the spare time in War Graves Commission and search for missing soldiers of the World War II. I was asked to join the group in order to document the search for USAAF Pilot John W. Simon by photos. Although the search shows first positiv resultes, the boby of the pilot was not found yet. Since almost 3 years the project team "History at place" of Rostocks "Nordlicht"-school is concentrated in the fate of members of the USAAF, who got lost in 1944 in the area of Rostock. One of there three projects is the search for John W. Simon. Following many of of dutch examples, the "Nordlicht"-school adopted John W. Simon. The adoptioncertificate and a portrait of Pilot John W. Simon got a pride of place at the school. Impressed of this story, the commitment of many volunteers and the interesst of the today’s youth, to overcome the darkes chapter of Germanys History, I contributed a portrait and a drawing.
