This year I long wished dream become true - a trip to Venice for a painting course. End of March I took part on a course of the German portraitist, Mrs. Brigitte Guhl again. This time the course took place in Venice and I had a good and instructive time.
On July, 04th my third exhibition in in Museum of Rerik was opened. I named the motto of the exhibition "Inspiration in lilac and pink". I choosed the motto as I let my self guided by my emotions for colors. Unfortunately my physical condition don't allow me to bring all my Ideas on canvas. Therefore I brought a few of my favorite works to the exhibition which I think are worth to be shown. These are big paitings (like "Frida Kahlo - homesick") as well as painitngs which become my private milestone like "Altersarmut".
Due to friends of fotocommunity I got in contact to a group of historical interested people, who spend the spare time in War Graves Commission and search for missing soldiers of the World War II. I was asked to join the group in order to document the search for USAAF Pilot John W. Simon by photos. Although the search shows first positiv resultes, the boby of the pilot was not found yet. Since almost 3 years the project team "History at place" of Rostocks "Nordlicht"-school is concentrated in the fate of members of the USAAF, who got lost in 1944 in the area of Rostock. One of there three projects is the search for John W. Simon. Following many of of dutch examples, the "Nordlicht"-school adopted John W. Simon. The adoptioncertificate and a portrait of Pilot John W. Simon got a pride of place at the school. Impressed of this story, the commitment of many volunteers and the interesst of the today’s youth, to overcome the darkes chapter of Germanys History, I contributed a portrait and a drawing.
